The fruits back home are thick and real healthy.  Au Naturale My favorite shot taken of me while in Douala, Cameroon. Took it the last day I was leaving to go back to the States. My aunt's driver decided to show off his camera skills the last day I was leaving, haha. Business owner of booth #46 at the major Craft Market in Douala. Met this very humble man, he was so was appreciative when i took his picture.  The children back home grow up so fast. Sometimes I feel like I haven't gotten my hands dirty enough. They carry a big load (literally and figuratively) at such a young age. My mom always tells me stories about her having to wake up early to go sell at the market as young as 5.…

  • A guy was selling this furniture set one Sunday by the roadside. He was kind enough to let me use it for this photo. That day, I was called “mami nyanga ” by drivers and people passing by, haha. ((Ain’t nothing wrong with feelin yourself))
  • A man in the market making the traditional Bamenda garment also known as Ntoghu. I met an 8 year old boy also helping his mom make some. I was highly impressed
Bamenda is where my mom is from, it is located in North West Cameroon. Bamenda is apart of the the South West region of Cameroon, West Africa. The southwest region is Anglophone, meaning English speaking. Most of Cameroon is Francophone, meaning french speaking. There is currently a divide of the two groups that is affecting the Anglophone regions the most. While i was in Bamenda, the government had cut off the internet in only the English speaking regions which had been going on for some time. There was also a 10pm curfew. Whomever was caught outside would be arrested. All this because the English regions for the past year have chosen to speak up because they are tired.
I tell you all of this not to bore you but to educate you and to contribute to a changing narrative of Africa, specifically Cameroon. Change is coming sooner than later.

I went with my other bae, Christiane. She has a blog and is just a sweet being. Fall is almost among us. I am most looking forward to the leaves changing color and the weather being a bit more appropriate for layering and more layering. This is the best time to go thrifting because the thrift stores are putting out their first batch of fall/winter items...so ready set Gooooo!! and thank me later. I am wearing this skater floral dress I got from the thrift store along with a NAVY blue duster.  I cut the dress to make it short but I am regretting it because…

Shout out to the greenhouse glow. I was baking in there! How cool and quirky is this skirt Skirt-Rugged Wearhouse   Top- Zara    Shoes & Purse-Thrift Store I love how I am glowing in these pictures. Don't be fooled though, they came with a price of excessive sweating with the trapped heat. When we were done, we walked out the greenhouse and all of a sudden, the 86 degree weather outside seemed bearable. Sarah and I went to this Botanical Garden last weekend. It was totally spontaneous, something I'm not (**clutches daily planner). But somehow Sarah always convinces me unplanned moves are the best moves and I can meet her halfway on that one. I was totally obsessed with the atmosphere and seeing all the plants were comforting...the little things   OUTFIT DETAILS-I have been thrifiting a…

Yay! Finally a DIY post. I purchased this macrame a while back from T.J. Maxx and had plans to dye it when I purchased it. It was only $16.99 (virtual high five) so I quickly snatched it up. Alot of the material used to rework the macrame were items I already had in my house. I encourage you all to look around your house and see what you can come up with before you go spending money on items. I like to work with less because I improvise and something creative is born. Take a peak into my shrine, my energy protector, my comfort zone...aka my room. Currently working with a deep blue and rust orange color palette.  Purchased the love ly statue head at the thrift store earlier this week. My mom actually stumbled upon it…

Off Her Shoulder

"Lifestyle, Uncategorized"

Growing up, my mom always had plants in our home, whether real or fake. I would observe the way she would nurture them. Now wherever I go, I find plants to be comforting ((Nurture Yours))   Shout out to my brother for taking these pictures, it's nice to know he's still loyal after all the times I use to drag him to take my pictures. A little back story behind shooting at this location! So my brother and I were outside taking pictures at a restaurant called Fisnet. We noted that the place was close so we weren't concerned whether we could shoot there or not. We snapped a couple of shots before my SD card became full so I sat down on the red bench deleting photos. A guy from the restaurant came out **PLOT TWIST, THE RESTAURANT IS…

Chi Vibez

"Create your own space and move at your own pace"   Hiyeee-2 months later...I haven't been hibernating or going on a creative hiautus. I like to think that I've been working at harvesting my craft and in doing so, I'm working in silence, heehee. I took these photos sometime in March with the effortless Chioma. I love taking pictures of my friends because I see so much light in them and when I take photos, I want to capture that. I started planning this project last December  with her. Chioma's style is no stranger to comfort and visual aesthetics so when it came to designing and sewing her outfit for the shoot, I really wanted to make something that was totally her times two. We opted for this GOLD and BLUE palette which reminds me of the striking colors artist Lana Iris Vicktor uses…

Positive Vibes Only

"Fashion, Lifestyle"

Shout out to my twin brother for taking these pictures. Sarah went to New York for the weekend so I asked him to help a sistah out. He use to take my blog pictures way back in the day when I was blogging, back then bribery worked, haha.  Our birthday is coming up in April, we plan on making a twin tag video, so YAY that should be fun! I like to think we are different but very similar at the same time, haha. This week started off really productive for me. How you start your day is so crucial. Getting yourself in the right state of mind contributes to the type of day you are going to have. So with that being said, I've made it a conscious effort day by day to exude…

I have been wanting to shoot at this tire place for the longest time. It's also another building that I pass by everyday after work just like the blue one here. It's super textured and full of character. The greasy oil smudged everywhere is a product…
