Hat, Heels, Purse 1950s Orange Corduroy Two Piece Set | Thrifted Ruffle Blouse | Boohoo
I hit the jackpot with this late/mid 1950s orange corduroy two piece set that I thrifted. The labeled brand on the suit is called Peck & Peck. They were a famous New York City ladies’ wear store that sold their own labeled goods. The company was started by two brothers and had grown to over 75 chain stores. A piece like that holds so much history, memories, and mileage – I can’t help but to be left to wonder about it’s past life. As I was breezing through the suit section, it struck my eyes and at that point, I wasn’t sure if the fit was really my style. The thick corduroy material had quality written all over it, one that is hard to find these days without putting a hole in your wallet. Taking a quick glance at that suit section, it was the coolest thing around so I put it in my cart with 70% assurance that I would get it. The thrift store that I was at didn’t have fitting rooms so I had to spend some time in front of the store mirror using my imagination on how I would make it work. A lady that came across the 2 piece set before I did, saw it in my cart and was like, “Oh I saw that and thought it was interesting”// You know when you are unsure about purchasing an item and then someone compliments it and then all of a sudden you are sold on it, yup that was me//I needed that confirmation. I love the high waist fit of these pants. I am even more into the fact that these pants stop right above my ankles ((such a look))
Shout out to DONOVAN, a friend and talented photographer for these amazing images. He shoots using a film camera which is really cool. As we took pictures, we weren’t able to go back and view them but that made every frame more thought out and precise because we were working with film. Donovan has such a precise attention to detail that I favor. I am looking forward to making more magic with him.
